India Trip--January 2009

Some photos from my trip to New Delhi and Bangalore in January.

This was the fruit that was in my hotel room upon my arrival. It looked really good, but I was afraid to try it. You know, the stomach thing.

Fire upon the pool at the entrance of the Trident.

A local produce market. You know how I love markets!

Beautiful carvings at the temple.

Some of the gods, all dressed up. They bathe them and change their clothes every day. Not a bad life!

I love the dogs in the above.

Holy cow, part 1.

Mmm... fresh coconut juice right from the nut. So refreshing!

Selling roasted corn. (Note proximity of food to feet.)

There are so many dogs all over the place that I wanted to get a picture of one. This one happened to be in a local zoo. Actually there were a bunch of stray cats sleeping in the cage with the caiman lizards, as well. Talk about tempting fate.

I didn't realize all of the varieties!

This was when I got interviewed by a local television station in Bangalore. There were many people crowded around, but the reporter told them to back off. Some of them stayed... :)

Holy cow, part 2.

Prabha and I on the lion and tiger safari. We were the last on the armored bus, and we got the best seats--right up in the front window (literally!). I felt very fortunate at first, but then was definitely a little nervous as the ride got bumpier.
Thanks to Prabha for showing me such a good time in Bangalore!
