On My Body
Wore it:
Yeah, it was in the 70s this week. Yeah, it's November. Nice.
Shirt anthro, necklace Digby and Iona, skirt Cooperative, tights H&M, shoes Rachel Comey, bracelets vintage.
This necklace is from Digby & Iona. Check the website for other wondrous designs. This one is like a fancy-lady version of a monkey's paw.
The little finger is articulated so as to allow the hand some "expressions." And it also wears a tiny golden diamond ring.

Wardrobe Streeeetching
Still mixing it up, but can't wait to access my closet back in Brussels! Until then, here's the latest from St. Lou.
Those neon pants!
Vintage "It's hard to soar with eagles when you work with turkeys" tee. True talk from a vintage tee. Pants samples, boots Frye, necklace Les Preciouses.
Close up of necklace amazement and some turkeys (one overall-ed).
You ask why? Because I have time. Because I have time.
Wearing my xmas present early. Amazing DVF sweater with silk fabric woven through the knit. omg, it is SO good. I will take a close-up with the good camera as soon as I'm reunited with it.
Alien abduction? It looks like I am about to be taken up.
Shirt old Ella Moss, skirt J. Crew, leggings BDG, shoes Rachel Comey.

Family Fashion
This is Elliot. I want that outfit. The pink hair poof, the ballerina skirt, the silver glitter boots. It is perfection. She is clearly the coolest girl around. Look at her pulling hair and taking names.
They need to make these big-people sized because I want them in my life, on my feets.
This is Tyler. He is practicing his lounge act, which is tailored to a cat audience (namely, Hilde). The check shirt says he means business, but the colored keyboard implies that a feline-friendly party is about to be thrown down. Ain't no party like a kitty-cat party 'cause a kitty-cat party don't stop!
And these lovelies are Aunts Louise and Helen. Especially loving the polka dots and stripes here. Tres chic!

Mexican Bakery Wars
You know how enamored of Diana's Bakery I am. So when some friends suggested I hit up El Chico Bakery just down the street I was a smidge wary. How could El Chico hold a candle to Diana?!?
I don't think they had as large of a selection as Diana's, but it was all fresh and smelled incredible. I lucked out that they still had some tamales left (Saturday = tamale-day) around 3 pm. Said tamales were pulled from a plastic cooler, so I knew they'd be good. Pardon my french, but you know shit's legit when it comes from someone's mom or grandma's personal cooler.
The tamales were delicious. They were "mild" red tamales yet had just enough spice. The masa was moist and well-flavored. The tres leches cake was not as saturated as Diana's version, and honestly I like my TL pretty wet, so the point goes to Diana's there.
Also tried a pumpkin empanada, which was good, but could have been more, um... fried. As in crispy. But the flavor was good. And props for seasonal flavor offerings.
All in all, another gem on Cherokee Street. And this one's got eat-in seating. At Diana's, it's only to-go. Anyway, try 'em both yourself and decide. I'm calling it a draw.

Wearing It
A couple days' worth...
Identity has been protected...
I have been really into "vintage" big shirts lately. I don't know if they can properly be called "vintage" because we're talking early '90s here, but everyone bandies the term around so I'm doing it. Yeah, really feeling those old rayon boxy button-downs from Limited, Express, and Gap. This one's from Gap; I thrifted it on Cherokee.
Blouse Gap, scarf vintage I. Magnin, shorts vintage Levi, tights UO, boots Frye, bag D&B.
Patterns!
Vintage mohair jacket from Wilbur in Philly, jumper vintage Gap, bag D&B, tights Anthro, shoes Rachel Comey.
No jacket, same face.
Horsey tights (and a smidge of Panton chair)!

Bad Shoes, Good Shoes
Sorry for fuzzy/small photos, but you get the gist.
BAD shoe.
Nay, possibly the WORST shoe.
Oh Ugg, it's like you're playing a joke. Not funny.
GOOD shoes.
Rachel Comey, you've done it again. Now you're studding the wooden heals, oh my...

My Favorite People Are Making More Favorite People!
And I was lucky enough to be here for it.
This new person (aka "Apple Pie") has arrived! Welcome, Nina! You are beautiful!
I got to spend time with her today... and she wasn't even 24 hours old yet. Amazing. Just amazing. What a beautiful little doll. And I will get to spend more time with her next week. I am so lucky.
Congrats to Maura and Phil, who wrote the book on keeping it cool, calm, and collected (with a good dose of chilled out) at all times. They are an inspiration in just about everything--not just parenting. So happy for them.

Wearing
Obsessed with this washed silk jacket I thrifted here in St. Lou. Paired it with the cute triangular cat print on the dress from Something Else by Natalie Wood. Leggings from UO, shoes Rachel Comey.
Vintage necklace once belonged to Maria E. Now it's mine, ALL MINE! You can sorta see the print-on-print action here... if you squint just right.
This is what happens when cats skype. In case you were wondering.
Cochino's face says it all. She is pissed I have puppeted her all the way from the States. Trust me, I know she is. She cares not to speak to her cousin Hilde, who seems quite uninterested herself.
OK... besides having posted it, I have gone on too long analyzing the whole situation. I'm going to take a pill now. Or check myself into a facility. Or something.

Diana's Bakery
For those of you not familiar with Saint Louis, I'mma fill you in on one of the spots. I used to live in a neighborhood called Benton Park, which is filled with lovely old houses and really innovative restaurants that are acclaimed on a national level and just general cool stuff. Some of this cool stuff is contained in the Cherokee District, which is an historic area that is also known as "Antique Row" because it came to comprise a majority of antique stores in one stretch.
Cherokee fell on hard times and got a little "rough" (I think I saw my first real, live prostitute on Cherokee back in the late '90s.), but people like my old friend Emily Marshall held it down and kept it real. I spent so many good times at Emily's in the late '90s/early 2000s... but anyway... meanwhile Cherokee Street was becoming a hub of Hispanic culture in St. Louis. And not unlike other Hispanic hubs I have experienced, the youth/hipsters/movers&shakers want a piece of the action. Seriously, the place is like a mini Mission. I mean, I had some damn good carnitas there just the other day. And Spanish is preferred to English at many joints. But then there are cool letterpress print shops and an outsider record store/label and myriad other shops.
But I tell you all of this, just to set the scene because Cherokee is also home to Diana's Bakery, a gem of a Mexican bakery.
You can smell the goodness on the sidewalk... and then you walk in and are hit with this....
and this....
(What are those??? Mexican cannolis?)
...and this.
But I really lucked out because they had all of the pan de muerto out. They also had a good deal of sugar skulls at the register. I didn't snap them, though.
Beautiful pan de meurto. Needless to say, with the proximity to dio des los meurtos, the joint was hoppin'. Go, Diana's! And you, GO TO Diana's!

Good Things!
Feeling the warm n' fuzzies lately. Here are some reasons why.
This is Lucas. It looks like he's a baby Byron for Halloween! What a cutie!
Really digging this old piece of "art" I found in the basement. Love the vibrancy of color. Wish I could make this into a print and wear it.
Look what arrived in the mail the other day! A package of peanut buttery love from Janette. If you've never had a peanut butter ball before, you really are missing out. She sent me three varieties of her famous pb balls--plain, sesame, and dark chocolate. I am pretty much the luckiest person around. YUMS!
Tubby offers you a peanut butter ball.

Outfits
What a dynamic pose! Man, every time I walk into the J. Crew at Frontenac, I score a great deal. I got this plaid wool ruffle skirt for something like $39.99. Nice.
Cardigan Gap, l/s shirt F21, skirt J. Crew, leggings UO, boots Frye, lucite bangle Mom.
Oh boy! This dress is the best! Found this on the "party" rack at whatever the heck the Rag-O-Rama in the Loop is called nowadays. I guess I'd like to think that my life is always a party because I straight-up rock the "party rack" looks on, say, a Tuesday afternoon. But really, I think that whoever's stocking the party rack could turn their crazy meter up a bit.
Dress Gitano (Yes, like old '80s Gitano! So good!), necklace Digby & Iona, boots Frye.
Hilde has no interest in the old French textbook I found in the basement. Don't worry, I will keep working on her "miaou"...
